311 Jarvis Open Bar Series Presents:

THE PURSUIT OF RECONCILIATION IN INDIGENOUS CHILD PROTECTION LAW

Lawyers/Law Students/Court and Social Workers Welcome!

What does the pursuit of reconciliation look like in Indigenous Child Protection cases? The TRC states that reconciliation between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal Canada requires constructive action to address the ongoing legacies of colonialism that have had destructive impacts on Aboriginal peoples in many areas including child welfare and the administration of justice. It called on all child welfare decision-makers to consider the impact of the residential school experience on children and their caregivers. The distinguished speakers in this program will explore how courts and counsel can respond to these imperatives.

This program features Chair, Justice Marion Cohen, with speakers, Justice Harry Laforme, Ontario Court of Appeal, and Justice Joyce Pelletier, Ontario Court of Justice.

LawPro approval for Risk Management Credits has been approved. This is a 1.5 hour program and has 0.5 hours accredited Professionalism and 1 hour of Substantive CPD.
