THE YEAR IN REVIEW: TOP FAMILY AND CHILD PROTECTION CASES OF 2016-2017
Back by popular demand, do not miss this essential overview and discussion of the leading family law and child protection cases of the past year. Aaron Franks will present a paper citing the leading family law cases that will have significant impact on your practice, including Harder v. The Queen, 2016 TCC 197, a tax court decision that addresses the sharing of tax deductions among separating spouses and the importance of how family lawyers should properly draft agreements on these issues. Gabrielle Pop-Lazic will also present a paper on the leading child protection cases of the past year, including CCAS v. RM, 2017 ONCJ 661.
As an added bonus, Justice Starr will speak for approximately 10 minutes at the end of the program on the topic “Professionalism Tips for Lawyers – A Judge’s Perspective from the Bench”.
