You have submitted your account to LAO and requested discretion and the Legal Accounts Officer has cut your account. You have written your appeal letter to LAO and your discretion request has been disallowed. Your next avenue of appeal is an appeal to an Assessment Officer as to how LAO has exercised their discretion. This is not an assessment of your account in the traditional sense. Rather it is a hearing before an Assessment Officer as to how LAO exercised their discretion. The documents available here for download are precedent materials for the hearing. The FLA is encouraging all its members and the family bar at large to appeal LAO’s decisions on their accounts.
