The CYFSA, the Court of Appeal case trilogy on access and An Act respecting First Nations, Inuit and Métis children, youth and families have changed the legal landscape for making decisions about access to children in extended society care. This has led to new ways of thinking about the importance of maintaining significant relationships for children post extended society care and post adoption and how to achieve this goal while keeping in mind the legal differences between access, contact, and openness.
